Shares of Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) rose nearly 1 per cent on Tuesday, hitting an intraday high of Rs 2,986.05 per share, after most brokerages reacted positively to the company's March quarter (Q4FY24) results. The bullish outlook stems from Reliance Jio's potential tariff hikes, given the competitive landscape, along with slow but steady improvement in the oil-to-chemical (O2C) vertical.
Renewed inflationary pressures, led by a spike in prices of vegetables and cereals, have cast a spell on the equity markets in the past month. Realty, IT, banking and oil & gas stocks suffered the most today. The index recovered partially and touch a day's high of 15,203. The NSE Nifty ended (provisional) with a loss of 108 points at 4,520.
The market breadth was negative - out of 2,761 stocks traded, 1,115 advanced, 1,537 declined and 109 were unchanged on Thursday. The NSE Nifty shed 83 points to end at 4,835. Unabated selling in auto, banking and oil & gas stocks forced the index touch a low of 16,196 - down 470 points from previous close.
A fresh round of buying in FMCG scrips - Hindustan Unilever (HUL) and ITC - helped the index recover some loss and eventually end with a loss of 67 points at 18,048. The NSE Nifty slipped 26 points to close at 5,277 on Monday.

Debt management is going to be a worry for the Vedanta group until FY25 at least. However, the restructuring of business divisions in Vedanta India could lead to an unlocking of values. The group structure is fairly complex. Anil Agarwal-led Vedanta Resources (VRL), which is London-listed, has a lot of debt on the balance sheet. It will have to repay $1 billion in secured bonds by January 2024 and at least another $300 million in calendar 2024.

Telecom operator Bharti Airtel and IT major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) have joined hands to build a 5G-based remote working technology using robotics, according to a joint statement. TCS during the trials has successfully tested two use cases of its Neural Manufacturing solutions on Airtel's 5G testbed in Manesar - remote robotics operations, and vision-based quality inspection, the statement claimed. "The 5G ecosystem will open limitless possibilities for enterprises to enhance productivity and serve their customers even better with digitally enabled applications.
Reliance Infrastructure has gained nearly 2% at Rs 845. ACC, Larsen & Toubro and Mahindra & Mahindra are up around 1.5% each at Rs 602, Rs 2,539 and Rs 545, respectively.
